Swift House in the AMLE

Debbie Donnelly and retired Swift facilitator, Julie Longchamp, were published in this month's edition of the Association for Middle Level Education Magazine!  Open the link and scroll down to page 44 to read about the Swift House model of teaming and project based learning.  This article serves as a fantastic overview of what we do as a team.  Thank you, Debbie and Julie.

Auditions Monday

Auditions for speaking parts in Romeo and Juliet or Treasure Island are being held this Monday morning at 8:30.  Not all students have to audition, but everyone will have a part!

Links for information about both plays can be found on the Swift Home page.  Students interested in auditioning should be practicing lines this weekend.

We will also be announcing the leadership positions before auditions so that codirectors can help with the process.

Swift House Sponsored Fun Night

Friday, October 10th, 6:00-8:30 PM

Our October 10th Fun Night is quickly approaching and we still need volunteers!! This is a very successful fundraiser. We need volunteers to help facilitate a fun evening for the kids. Please go to the sign-up form and look at the many areas in which you and your student can volunteer. Add your name(s) in the designated spot to sign on.

We could not pull this off without the wonderful support from all of the families. We ask that each person (students and parents) going on the DC trip volunteer your time for two fundraising events!! Thank You!!

Polar Express

Keep signing up those elves for Polar Express on this signup form.  See last week's Flyer for more detail about the event. Remember to sign up each elf (siblings and adults) separately so we get the proper head count.

Technology and Collaboration

Students have been accessing technology in order to collaborate on projects this year.  Click on the image below for an example from a literature group that collaborated on a presentation about figurative language from the book, Watsons Go to Birmingham, 1963.

Of course it's still important to build with clay and sand!
