  • Incoming Parent and Student Night:  6:30 pm onThursday, February 8th @ CVU
  • Course Registration Process: 8th graders will be e-mailed a survey for course registration after the parent night.  Students will select world language, math and elective courses.  Math and world language course levels will be decided with current teacher input.
  • Course Registration Due: February 23rd
  • Course Descriptions: Available online at CVU website
  • CVU Schedule: Eight blocks total with six designated for the ninth grade core program
The eighth graders are many great questions about schedules, clubs, sports, courses, credits and more.  They will have another chance to ask questions at the Parent and Student night.

NYC Fundraisers

Thank you for your support so far.  We raised an impressive $500 at Grazers on Thursday!  Next up:

Marko the Magician- February 9th at 6:30 pm.  We'd love all the help we can get in the follow capacities:

  • Sell or buy tickets. We attached an order form to each Swifties' Greensheet this week. If you'd like to attend, please do!  If you can't attend- please pass the order form along to someone whose interested.
  • Hang Posters around town.  Click here for the PDF
  • Sign up to volunteer that night- we still need folks in some important positions.  Volunteers can still attend the show if they have purchased tickets.
It's a great show and a big fundraiser for our trips.  Thank you for your support!

Independent Project Open House

Thank you so much for another wonderful Open House.  As always, the presence of parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends gave Swift students an authentic audience for the evening's presentations.  We can't thank you enough for coming to hear about their research.

Lake Champlain Basin Program

Last week researchers from the Lake Champlain Basin Program visited our 7th and 8th grade math classes to share their latest graphics for the upcoming "2018 State of the Lake" publication.  The graphs showed the latest findings in various indicators of lake water quality throughout the basin.  Students provided feedback on the readability of the data representations.  Our feedback will be reflected in their final drafts of the publication!

We contributed in the process three years ago for their 2015 State of the Lake report.  You can see a "Special Thanks" at the end of the report!  We look forward to using the data from the 2018 report in our future lake studies.

ParentIN CVSD

A message from CVSD...

Being a teenager can be tough. Parenting teens isn’t exactly easy, either. That’s why we created ParentIN – to empower parents and caregivers of CVSD middle and early high school students with the support they need to help their children make healthy choices. Reported substance use among CVSD students drastically increases each year from 6th to 12th grade. We want you, and your child, to be prepared for what’s to come.

ParentIN offers evidence-informed educational tips and resources, community engagement events, and facilitated meet-ups aimed at helping our kids live substance free lives. Join other Champlain Valley parents in the movement to be more INvolved, INspired, and INvested!

To receive:
 · Online Support: through email, text, and social media
· Personal Support: through small groups with other parents
· Resources: inform yourself with in-depth articles on substance abuse prevention
