Washington DC Meeting
If your child is going to Washington DC and you missed the meeting this week, you can find the link to the presentation here.Theater Festival
Thank you so much for your support and attendance at the annual Swift House Theater Festival. We were so impressed with the students' team work and the students were of course thrilled with the cast party that you parents pulled together. We of course still have a table of miscellaneous clothing, so if anything didn't make it home feel free to come by for a look or e-mail your child's core teacher. With much thanks to Jeff Goldman who took the photos and uploaded them, we now have a photo album with great shots of both plays! FAP Bookfair
Swift House students will be attending the FAP book fair on December 4th at 9:30 (Ms. Skapof and Ms. Laberge) and on December 7th at 9:30 am (Ms. Donnelly and Ms. Longchamp). The book fair is open until 8 pm Monday-Thursday of that week as well. Students will all get to visit the book fair with no pressure to purchase anything. You may send them in with money to get a book if you choose.Humanities Classes
All Swift House students have started a humanities class, which integrates history, writing, literature, and technology. The fifth and sixth graders focus is colonial America and the seventh and eighth graders focus is World War I. This unit will be a project-based unit, where all the activities will end up informing their final project. In the project, small groups of students will be creating an online "scrapbook". Students will create their "character" and how the group's characters are connected. For example, the colonial America group may be one family with but member is in the northern colonies, one in the middle colonies and one in the southern colonies. What they contribute to the scrapbook will be very different. In a sample 7th and 8th grade group, one person may be a soldier in Europe, another a wife at home and a third person may be a relative who is living in a European country. Please visit the websites for both groups, which will contain all of their requirements. You will be able to view their "Scrapbook" in the coming weeks.

WCS Drama Club Interviewing for Stage Manager Positions
If your child has an interest in being a stage manager for the upcoming production of "ANNIE", they should email Ms. Longchamp. We will be interviewing interested candidates in December. The stage manager is a leadership position and the responsibilities include taking attendance at rehearsals, recording blocking notes so they know where everyone should be on stage in all the scenes, directing their peers, and running the performances. Interested students should be mature and able to take as well as give direction.
